Johnathan's Dedication

Johnny had the privilege of dedicating Johnathan to the Lord on Sunday. The dedication comes out of 1 Samuel chapter 1 when Hannah dedicated Samuel to the Lord.

3 Months

Tried to get a smile, but he was too entertained by the flash!

With Jordyn and Jaedyn. It has amazed me how every girl that meets him...no matter the age, they are very mothering!

• He rolled from his tummy to his back 2 days after he was 2 months old.
• He started sleeping through the night regularly right around when he was 2 months, and then he had several weeks of waking up due to being wet or moving around and his arm getting stuck in his crib. Once we put him on his tummy and got a breathable crib bumper, he started sleeping between 8 and 9 hours at night.
• He was about 11 lbs 6 ounces and we measured him at around 25 inches.
• He loves people and gives lots of big smiles.
• He loves laying on the floor on his blanket.
• He laughs a lot, especially when we do something he finds funny.
  

2 Months

You can see how much bigger he has gotten.

First time in his bumbo.

His head is getting stronger, but he still flops.

• He has very good head control. When you lay him down on his tummy he looks like a turtle.
• He loves being on his tummy.
• He is rolling to his back from his side and his back to his side.
• He is close to rolling over.
• Smiling a lot more!
• He slept through the night a couple of times in the last week.
• He is laughing.
• Loves his bath time (especially when Daddy gives it!)
• Found that he had bad case of cradle cap through all of his hair.
• Weighs 10 lbs 3 ounces and is 24 and a 1/4 inches.
  

1 Month

Taking a long nap for the first time.

His first real bath. It took his cord a long time to fall off.

A bouncer seat that makes noise when he kicks his feet.
He loves it, and gets so excited when it makes noise when he kicks.

On his tummy the first time. He was so mad that he rolled himself over kicking his legs.

• He sleeps well at night. He has at least a 5 hour stretch, and then I feed him twice before we get up for the day.
• He does not like taking naps. He is fussy because he is tired, but he fights sleep.
• Every now and then he will take a good nap in the afternoon.
  
• The first time I put him on his tummy he was so upset that he kicked his legs enough to turn himself over!
• He weighs 9 lbs 5 ounces and is 23.25 inches.
• He loves his activity center.
• He is smiling lots.
• Loves to be held on his tummy and on our shoulders.

4 Weeks

His favorite way to lay down! We think he may have reflux and it makes his tummy feel better.

Hospital Stay

We were in the hospital for 10 days after Johnathan was born due to pneumonia. We were ready to leave and go home when his fever spiked after being taken off of antibiotics, which resulted in several tests to determine what caused the fever to spike. We were told it could be either viral or bacterial meningitis, however after several attempts at a spinal tap, the doctor ruled out meningitis as she knew he pneumonia.

It was hard seeing him poked for a new IV several times while we were there, but I am so thankful that we were allowed to stay with him and I didn't have to pump to feed him. We were blessed by the staff of nurses that were there and so thankful when we got to go home!

Johnathan's Birthday

Johnathan Chambers Knox was born May 23, 2010 at 7:41 PM. He was 8 pounds 14 ounces and 22 inches long.

He was born by emergency c-section because his heart rate dropped when I was put on pitocin after I was transported to the hospital after 24 hours of labor.

I was transported as my water broke early in labor and my midwife wanted me to have a chance to deliver naturally with pitocin rather than have a c-section when Ifailed to progress past a 6 for several hours.
